Review: Smartphone Microscope Converter by Kid Science
Great Value Microscope Converter For Your Smartphone
If you are looking for a great value smartphone microscope converter, then this is the one for you. It isn't the best quality on the market, but priced at $5 and including the 3 batteries, this is an absolute bargain and should be in the science equipment box for all young STEM kids.
We bought this one from Kmart, and it's great to see them increasing their STEM product and equipment range.
This is a microscope converter that turns your smartphone into a microscope. It is great for teaching kids STEM and science. Made by Kids Science.
To attach it to your phone, you just pull open the spring loaded mechanism and place it around your smartphone, ensuring that you line up the hole with your camera on your phone.
In our opinion this works more like a macro lens than a microscope, however, this technicality does not stop your kids exploring the world around them in a new way.
Whats in The Box
Everything you need for this microscope converter is in the box. The only thing you will need is a smartphone to attach it to.
Microscope Converter with 3 Batteries Already Installed
Please don't have expectations that you will be seeing things that you can't see with the naked eye, it just isn't that powerful. But for $5 including batteries, we think it represents great value, and the kids absolutely love it. You can certainly zoom in on things that your smart phone can't normally zoom into.
If you have inquisitive kids who love STEM learning, this is a great addition to their science equipment box.
All things considered, we give this a 4 out of 5. Great work Kmart.
Images We Took Using the Smartphone Microscope Converter
Here are some images that we took with the kids just walking around the house. I have included a picture of each item because you would be trying to figure out what it is if I didn't.
The microscope converter from Kmart comes with a safety warning, so we will include it here:
Button cell batteries can cause serious injury or death if swallowed. Dispose of safely!
Store batteries out of reach of children!
Choking Hazard. Small parts. Not suitable for children under 3 years.
For safety reasons, remove all tags, labels and plastic fasteners before giving this toy to your child.
